Here is to a Happy New Year…2013

Okay so we are leading up to the close of another year and about to bring in a New Year. Looking back over 2012…at times I wonder where the time has gone….. I have not photographed as many weddings as I hoped, I have however continued to strengthen my skills in photography and even starting to master some Photoshop. In the coming year, I am looking forward to our trip to Cuba in March. Last year I wanted to do a number of personal  projects, one of which I tried to start last year…however I have been slower acquiring the props  I am nearly at the stage to undertake my various projects.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a big shout out to my fans, to the models who I have shot and the various Make Up Artists(MUA)  I have worked with and the photographers I have shot alongside of…  Thank You.

I have made some great friends, had some great laughs and taken a few photos along the way. I am not one to make New Year resolutions but hope to revamp my web sites..yes dear I will tidy my office..and continue to have fun.

In the meantime I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2013…here is a selection of what I consider are some of my best Model shots from 2012 in no particular order….

    Happy New Year -Steve

    FunkyChick In the Boudoir

So I get to do a few Boudoir shoots and lucky for me my wife’s eclectic decorating style gives me a few rooms in our house to choose from so when a room gets repainted and restyled I just felt I had to shoot in it! The Lovely Lynette  aka Funkychick obliged me and I personally think I got a great collection of images…Of course that telephone had to star again! Thank you FunkyChick and a big thank you to MUA Marie Walter.

    Pin-ups for Pink

So back in September I completed a day in the studio shooting 9 lovely girls. I had Photographer Melissa-Jane assist me and with Make up was done by Courtney Bridges MUA with hair styling by Candace Shafell and Danny Luu. This was all organised by Jade Halley. Today I received the calendar… I had to keep the shots under wraps and I must say that was hard. Big thanks to Ashley Marston and Daniel Miers for editing the photos. So here I have. A quick peek of the finished calendar, lovely cover art by Levi Bell who does great ink work by the way. I have ten Calendars available @ $25.00 plus $3.00 postage. Payment can be by PayPal so if you want one contact me and I’ll send an invoice with PayPal details. All proceeds after printing costs go to cancer research.

    CPW Casting Call

In June CPW set out a casting call photographic workshop that would be conducted on the site of the once film set of  Man from Snowy River. It has also been used for commercial and most recently the Solo add although a quick blink and you would miss it. So with some great deal of enthusiasm I set off early one Friday morning bound for Melbourne and to travel to a place called Kattaminga near Trentham. The appeal of this workshop was not only to join Glynn Lavender and the CPW crew but to also meet Mike Hollman, an accompliashed landscape photographer from New Zealand.  Upon my 4am wake up to catch a 5.00 am flight to Melbourne, I did question my sanity especially as my Photographic travel partner Rita Drysdall was not arriving until Mid Morning. But then the sacrifices you make to save a buck…yeah….

Rita arrived we got our hire car headed off to epping to meet some online Photobuddies for lunch. After lunch we made our way to Kattaminga….and in true Melbourne fashion it was raining and was slightly colder than we had been recently experiencing in Queensland.

With daylight saving we arrived at Kattaminga at was no longer raining but it was certainly cold. That night we had a  casual get together, were assigned to our rooms and made for an early night as a  sunrise shoot was scheduled for the morning.

The next morning was very cold and cloudy and the sun could not be seen..we had fun anyway. During the day we had various set-ups with Models young and old. That night we light painted the old church and the next morning no sunrise but a  blanket of mist made for some interesting shots.  I even got to have a go at HDR thanks to Steve Kinna. I had a  ball, learnt some new stuff meet some great people. I would love to do it all again…I can’t but you can, as I know that Casting Call Two will be happening  5th-7th of April 2013..why not book now ? The price is well worth it and accommodation and meals are fantastic! Meanwhile a sample of images…

Cindy Revell - THANK YOU for sharing this AWESOME experience! Sounds like you had a BLAST and the images you took are simply AMAZING! WELL DONE! 😀
